Fascism and dictatorship might come back but they will come back in a new form. A form which is much more relevant to the new technological reality of the 21st. Century. In ancient times land was the most important asset in the world. Politics therefore was the classic struggle to control land. A dictatorship meant that all the land was owned by a single ruler or a small oligarch.Then in the modern age machines became more important than land. Politics became the struggle to control machines and dictatorship meant that too many of the machines became concentrated in the hands of the government or the small elite. Now data is replacing both land and machines as the most important asset politics becomes the struggle of controlling the flows of data and dictatorship means that their is too much data.
To understand how a virus works, forget about the pandemic, just understanding what a virus is, it is not even a living organism. It is just a piece of code that manages to take over your body.
